Success at the Anti-piracy Program Training carried out on 02/06/2007 in Goiânia.
 
The training anti-piracy carried out by the Public Ministry in partnership with the National Forum Against Piracy and Counterfeiting (FNCP) on February 06, 2007 in Goiânia. The event counted with approximately 200 authorities from the Public Ministry, Federal Police, Military Police, Civil Police, Federal and State Road Police, City office of Urban Development, and PROCON - Consumer Protection Office which interacted with the lecturers throughout the training.

MP promotes training for combating piracy in Goiás

The Prosecutor Office of the State of Goiás, sponsored by the National Forum Against Piracy, starts next Tuesday, in Goiânia, a training program for public authorities that somehow are responsible for combating piracy in the state. According to the communication agency services of the Prosecutor Office, legal and techinical aspects of piracy will be dealt in many segments, such as books, cigarettes and CDs. Authorities from the Public Ministry, Federal Police, Military Police, Civil Police, Federal and State Road Police and City office of Urban Development shall participate from the training.

Piracy numbers are presented in the training for public authorities

The movie “Dois filhos de Francisco”, that tells the story of the musicians from Goiânia, Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano, sold 500 thousand copies in original DVD and other 500 thousand pirate copies. The numbers were revealed by the representant of ADPI - Intellectual Property Association, Clayton Wilson Jorge, this morning, during the anti-piracy training, promoted by the Prosecutors Office, sponsored by the National Forum Against Piracy and counterfeiting, 200 authorities from the Public Ministry, Federal Police, Military Police, Civil Police, Federal and State Road Police and City office of Urban Development. They received information on how to identify counterfeited products and lots of information from this illegal market.

The numbers are impressive. According to Wilson Jorge, 40% of physic products (CDs, DVDs, videotapes) are counterfeited and around 1 billion of songs have been downloaded from the Internet, without authorization. The audiovisual sector, as he says, lost R$ 600 millions in 2006, hundreds of movie rentals were closed in all the country and 20 thousand jobs were lost along the last years.

In the optical sector the situation is not different. Henrique Barbosa Martins Vieira, from Abiótica - the Brazilian Association of Optical products, said that 50% of this market is taken by piracy. "And in this sector we are dealing with health, once the damages caused to the eyes by counterfeited glasses are really high", he affirmed. According to him, in January 2007 approximately were counterfeited.

As affirmed the prosecutor Cláudio Braga, coordinator of the do State Consumer Office, users of public services and crimes against consumer relations, it is the first time that a training in this area is promoted in Goiás. He also talked about the importance of making people aware that piracy is not accepted as a normal action. As an example, according to him, it is the illegal reproduction of books.

The representant of ABDR - Brazilian Association of Reproduction Rights (ABDR), Dalízio Barros, said that the main focus of this type of piracy is located near universities. In 2006, he affirmed, 148 police actions were made in about 60 universities. In 80% of the inspected copiers non-authorized copies were found. Barros announced a project from ABDR that will be applied, fist as na experiment, in three universities now in March. The system allows students to take copies, directly from the computer, , parts of the books with a cost only 20% more expensive than the photocopy.

Ministério Público promove treinamento para o combate à pirataria em Goiás

The Prosecutor Office of the State of Goiás, sponsored by the National Forum Against Piracy, starts tomorrow, in Goiânia, a training program for public authorities that somehow are responsible for combating piracy in the state. Legal and technical problems about piracy will be dealt in several segments, for example the books. The illegal reproduction of literary works is topic of the first speech, at 9h15 am, in the auditorium of the Prosecutor Office, in Jardim Goiás. Some minutes before, at 9am, the present attorney general, Pedro Tavares Filho, will proceed with the program opening.
The Brazilian cigarette market, the piracy in the optical sector, printing supplies as well as the audiovisual and phonographic sectors will be dealt still in the morning session. By the afternoon, starting at 2:00 pm., the schedule will be in charge of ABES – Brazilian Association of Software Companies, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice. According to the prosecutor Cláudio Braga, coordinator of the State Consumer Office, users of public services and crimes against consumer relations, will be capacitated around 150 public authorities from Federal Police, Military Police, State Consumer Office, Consumer Protection Office and City office of Urban Development.
