FNCP releases hotline to support public authorities in the fight against piracy and receives reports regarding counterfeiting, improper clearance, under invoicing, contraband and tax evasion from citizens.

On December 15th, 2006 the National Forum Against Piracy and Counterfeiting – FNCP released its hotline - 0800 771 FNCP (3627) in order to support public authorities in the fight against piracy and receive reports regarding counterfeiting, improper clearance, under invoicing, contraband and tax evasion from citizens.

The hotline was created after the alert of several public authorities who took part of the 1st Capacitation Course for public authorities promoted by the National Labor Union of the Federal Revenue workers – SINDIRECEITA, in Aracruz in the state of Espírito Santo, among them there were public authorities from Federal Customs Police, Civil Police, Military Police, workers from

the Federal Revenue and others.

The authorities mentioned that several times the products present evidences of under invoicing, counterfeiting, and it is often necessary to have background information, technical knowledge or contact with the trademark or copyright holders in order to apprehend products or sentence violators.

In this sense, the hotline 0800 771 FNCP* (3627) function is to provide the public authorities with intellectual support such as market studies about the formation of products prices, technical reports, or contact with the trademark or copyright holders to combat piracy, counterfeiting, improper clearance, under invoicing, contraband and tax evasion as well as to receive citizen’s reports.
