LEGISLATION
Collaborating to the application and improvement of Brazilian laws regarding Intellectual Property, copyrights and piracy combat in a general form is one of FNCP (National Forum Against Piracy and Counterfeiting) goals. Aiming this improvement, FNCP takes part in educational, repressive and economical actions. Besides that, FNCP also sponsors the creation of new laws that support the piracy combat.
In August 2004, after the close of the Piracy Parliamentary Investigation Committee (“CPI” – Comissão Parlamentar de Inquérito), the Federal Government established, in the structure of the Ministry of Justice, the National Council to Combat Piracy and Intellectual Property Crimes - CNCP, responsible for the elaboration and implementation of the National Plan to Piracy Combat. According to CNCP, Piracy is known as the violation of the copyrights dealt in the laws nº 9.609 e 9.610, both from February 19th, 1998.
The National Forum Against Piracy and Counterfeiting (FNCP) takes part in actions that aim the tax release and also interacts before Parliamentary front of Piracy and Bio piracy Combat National Congress in the sense of approving new laws which aim the end of piracy and incentives the illegal commerce.
